IU Opera Theater opens 2017-18 season with all-new production of Mozart’s ‘Don Giovanni’

Indiana University Opera Theater will open its 2017-18 season with a brand-new production of Mozart's “Don Giovanni” at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, with additional performances Sept. 16, 22 and 23. The Sept. 15 and 16 performances will be video-streamed live via IUMusicLive!

Numerous items from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music’s Leonard Bernstein Collection will be featured in a traveling exhibit as part of a worldwide celebration of the icon’s 100th birthday celebration. Items from the Jacobs collection comprise the largest part of the display.

Jason Nam appointed assistant professor of bands with IU Jacobs School of Music

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Jason Nam as assistant professor of music in bands, effective Aug. 1. Nam will also serve as associate director of bands. He was previously visiting assistant professor of music in bands and assistant director of bands with Jacobs.

Jazz bassist Todd Coolman appointed to IU Jacobs School of Music faculty

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce that Todd Coolman will join its faculty as adjunct professor of music in jazz bass Aug. 1. A two-time Grammy Award winner, Coolman is among the most in-demand bassists on the New York music scene today. Coolman studied classical bass at the Jacobs School with Murray Grodner, earning a Bachelor of Music in Bass Performance in 1975.

Harpist Florence Sitruk appointed to IU Jacobs School of Music faculty

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of harpist Florence Sitruk as professor of music in harp, effective Aug. 1. Sitruk earned her Artist Diploma from the Jacobs School, studying primarily with recently retired Distinguished Professor Susann McDonald.

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of baroque cellist and violist da gamba Joanna Blendulf as associate professor of music in baroque cello/viola da gamba, effective Aug. 1. Blendulf, a Jacobs School alumna, has performed and recorded with leading period instrument ensembles throughout the United States and abroad.

Jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton appointed to IU Jacobs School of Music faculty

The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of jazz vocalist Tierney Sutton as associate professor of music in jazz studies, effective Aug. 1. An eight-time Grammy nominee, Sutton has received a Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy nomination for every project she has released in the last decade.
